Heat butter in a pot over medium heat. Slice the carrots, celery and onion.

Add the vegetables and garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, until vegetables are tender, about 10-12 minutes.

Chop fresh basil. Using fresh basil is the secret to the very best tomato basil soup.

Add the tomato sauce, chicken broth, fresh basil and other spices.. Bring to a boil and cook until reduced, about 10-15 minutes.

Pour soup in a blender, never filling more than half full. Puree in batches until it's all been pureed. Return to pot. Stir in half and half and heat until hot.

This was so yummy! I wasn’t sure about all the veggies but it was incredible. I loved how easy it was to make on a busy weeknight. I paired the soup with a bread bowl and it was delicious"
