In a large saute pan, saute onion and garlic until onion is translucent. Add the tomato paste and mix together.

Add the heavy cream to the tomato paste mixture and stir together to make a vibrant orange sauce.

Stir in the crushed red pepper. At this time add the vodka (if using) and simmer for 3 minutes. Mix in parmesan cheese and stir until a sauce forms.

If needed, add in a small amount of pasta reserve sauce to make it the consistency you like. Mix in the cooked shell noodles to the vodka sauce.

Serve topped with more parmesan cheese and added basil for presentation.
