Easter Dirt Cake Casserole is a classic no-bake dessert layered with crushed OREOs, creamy pudding, and fluffy Cool Whip, then topped with festive Easter candy. It’s an easy, old fashioned Easter recipe that’s perfect for parties, potlucks, and spring celebrations.
8ouncescream cheesesoftened, I prefer Philadelphia or other nice brand for maximum smoothness
⅔cuppowdered sugar
16ouncecontainer Cool Whipthawed
6.8ouncesvanilla instant pudding2 boxes
3cupsmilkcold
easter candyI used peep bunnies, cadbury mini eggs, sprinkles and green coconut (see note 1)
Instructions
Crush OREOs in a ziploc bag with a rolling pin or roughly in a food processor- see note 2. Spread ⅔ of the crushed cookies on the bottom of a 9x13 pan.
Beat the softened cream cheese and softened butter together in a the bowl of stand mixer or with an electric mixer until perfectly smooth. Beat in the powdered sugar. Set aside
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and pudding mix together in a bowl until it starts to thicken, about 2 minutes. Add to the cream cheese mixture and mix on low speed until well combined. Fold in the Cool Whip with a spatula.
Pour over the OREO crumbs and smooth the top evenly.
Cover and chill at least 2 hours before serving. Right before serving, remove from refrigerator and top with remaining crushed OREOs, peeps and other decorations. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
To make edible green coconut grass, place about ⅓ cup sweetened coconut flakes in a bowl. Add 2 drops green coloring and stir to combine. Add more food coloring one drop at a time until desired color is reached.
If using a food processor to crush the OREOs, make sure they aren't too small. Dirt cake is fun when there are some larger chunks of OREO in it.
Feel free to use whatever decorations you'd like! This could be really fun with chick peeps and eggs.
