Ingredients
This better-than-Heinz version uses only the best ingredients. The list below gives you the best information and favorite tips.

- Butter- For this recipe, we prefer to use unsalted butter. This way the other seasonings can add all the flavors, in particular the cajun seasoning.
- Garlic- Though garlic powder is nice in a pinch, the texture and taste that fresh minced garlic is unmatched. You don't want to pass up fresh garlic for this recipe.
- Lemon Juice- Fresh squeezed lemons give the zestiest taste. Bottle lemon juice works as well but won't be as vibrant tasting.
- Cajun seasoning- Our favorite cajun seasoning is Slap Yo Momma! You can use any cajun seasoning that you like best.
- Fresh parsley- This is optional but it not only adds a great taste it also gives it a fun and fresh look.

Melt the butter and add the minced garlic.

Stir until the garlic is fragrant, about 2 minutes.

Learn From Us
Overcooking garlic is so easy to do! When you heat any oil, the garlic can go from just right to overdone in a matter of seconds. It's happened to me and I've had to start a recipe completely over because of it. Make sure to not overcook the garlic for this recipe. It will mess up the taste and texture.

Storing Butter Cajun Sauce
Store extra Cajun butter garlic sauce in an air-tight container for up to 2 weeks. Make sure to store it in the refrigerator. We don't suggest freezing this recipe.
Top tip
Depending on what type of cajun seasoning you use, you may need to add more or less of the suggested amount. Not all cajun seasoning has the same intensity of flavor.

Recipe

Easy Cajun Butter Sauce
Equipment
- small saucepan
Ingredients
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 6 cloves fresh garlic
- juice from 1 medium lemon about 3-4 Tablespoons
- 1 Tablespoon cajun seasoning
- fresh parsley optional, for garnish
Instructions
- Mince garlic. Heat butter and garlic over medium low heat until garlic is fragrant, about 2 minutes. Turn the temperature to low and whisk in the other ingredients. Cool and serve!
Notes
- This recipe yields about ⅔ cup cajun sauce. It can easily be made doubled, tripled or more.
- If possible, use fresh garlic for maximum flavor. Use a garlic press for the easiest way to mince your garlic. Minced garlic may be used if necessary.
- Bottled lemon juice may be used instead of fresh, if necessary, but we love and encourage using fresh lemons.
- Not all cajun seasoning is created equal, you may need to add a little more depending on your seasoning.
- If your cajun seasoning isn't spicy enough, add 1-2 teaspoons hot sauce to make it spicier.
- Be very careful not to over cook your garlic. This will cause the sauce to be a funny texture and will alter the taste.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
- We highly recommend using unsalted butter. Most cajun seasonings have some salt in them. If your cajun sauce ends up not being salty enough, add salt to taste.
