Key Ingredients
We tried to pack the best flavors to make a classic cheese ball.

- Cheese- This recipe needs all the cheese, and we've tested so many different flavors to get that just-right flavor. Using cream cheese as a base and extra sharp cheddar is by far the best combo. Make sure you don't use pre-shredded cheese. Pre-shredded cheese adds an anti-caking agent that makes it really difficult to form.
- Worcestershire Sauce- This is our secret ingredient for an amazing flavor.
- Pecans- These are optional, but if you add them, we found that finely chopped is much better than larger chunks. We want our cheese ball to be spreadable.
How to make Classic Cheese Ball
Learn how to make a Holiday Cheeseball with these easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions.

- Begin by adding all the ingredients to a bowl. Mix together.

- Add the mixed cheese ball ingredients to a spread out plastic wrap. Wrap the plastic wrap around the cheese mixture.

- While the cheese mixture is in the plastic wrap, form the ball. Place in the refrigerator to set, while still in the plastic wrap.

- Just before serving, remove the plastic wrap to keep that perfect shape. Serve with your favorite crackers and enjoy!
Hint: When shaping, form the cheese ball completely before removing the plastic wrap-doing it afterward makes a huge mess!
Common Mistakes
Don't use pre-shredded cheese-it's coated in anti-caking powder that can keep your cheese ball from sticking together properly. Also, make sure your cream cheese is fully softened before mixing; cold cream cheese creates lumps and uneven texture.

Top tip
For the best texture, shred your own cheddar using the thick side of a grater block. A fine grate just blends in too much and loses that nice cheesy bite.
Recipe

Cheese Ball Recipe
Ingredients
- 16 ounces cream cheese softened
- 8 ounces cheddar cheese About 2 ½ cups grated, I used sharp. Don't use pre shredded, see note 1 below.
- ⅓ cup green onion chopped
- 2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ cup chopped pecans optional, see note 2.
Instructions
- Beat softened cream cheese with an electric mixer and the paddle attachment until perfectly smooth. This will ensure you don't have any lumps in the cheese ball.

- Add the grated cheese, chopped green onion, worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, garlic powder and pepper and chopped nuts if using. Stir with a spatula to combine or mash together with a large fork. Adjust seasonings to personal preference.

- Using your hands, form cream cheese mixture into a ball, then wrap the whole thing in plastic wrap and shape the ball again if needed. Chill at least 4 hours and up to over night.

Notes
- Because of the anti-caking powder they put on shredded cheese, we highly recommend you shred your own cheese. It could ruin the texture of the cheese ball and make it so that it doesn't stick together well.
- You can also use slivered almonds, or chopped walnuts or no nuts at all. Some people like the added crunch to their cheese ball. You can also roll the ball in the nuts, if desired.

Storing
Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 5 days. You can also make it ahead of time-just store it without any outer nut coating until serving for best freshness.
