We are so excited to share this Buffalo Chicken Egg Roll recipe. We turned our favorite buffalo chicken dip into a handheld snack or appetizer. This is a family favorite for holidays and parties.
The first time I made this I knew we had an instant hit! They made such a fun game day appetizer but we enjoyed the leftovers for lunch. They are made with easy ingredients like shredded chicken, spicy buffalo sauce (hot sauce), cream cheese, and cheddar cheese.

Ingredients
Here is a list of ingredients and our favorite suggestions! Egg roll wrappers are usually found near refrigerated vegetables.
- Shredded Chicken- This recipe calls for shredded cooked chicken. You can use plain chicken or lightly salt and peppered chicken. One of my best experiences with this recipe was using leftover rotisserie chicken. It had a great taste and it made the prep easy.
- Hot Sauce- Any hot sauce will work but we recommend and use Franks Red Hot Buffalo Sauce. It gives you the best buffalo wings flavor. Or you can try our new homemade Buffalo Sauce.
- Cream Cheese- The balance of the hot sauce and cream cheese make this resemble the dip you love. Make sure to use softened cream cheese so you can easily mix it with the chicken.
- Cheddar Cheese- This gives the roll a cheesy texture. You will want to shred the cheddar cheese so it disperses throughout the egg roll mixture.
- Egg Roll Wrappers- This is found in most vegetable sections of the grocery store. Careful while handling as they tear easily.
- Ranch Dressing or Blue Cheese Dressing- This is optional and is not in the recipe itself. It's for dipping this amazing recipe!

How to Make Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls.
Here are step by step instructions to learn how to make these spicy Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls. Pictures are included to help with texture and look.
- Combine shredded chicken, shredded cheddar cheese, softened cream cheese, and hot sauce in a large mixing bowl. Mix together until a buffalo sauce mixture is formed. If the cream cheese isn't softened, it will be difficult to mix.
2. Place 2-3 tablespoons of mixture in the center of the egg roll. You don't want to over stuff the wrapper or they will burst open while cooking.
3. Fold the wrapper by folding the top of the diamond over the mixture in the center. Then bring the two sides to the center making it look like an envelope.
4. Wet the top corner with water and roll the folded portion tightly until the remaining dough is snuggly around.
5. Place the rolled egg rolls on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Brush the top with olive oil.
Bake for 30 minutes at 375 degree Fahrenheit. Flip halfway through cooking.
Enjoy hot dipped in ranch or blue cheese!
Hint: Get the tips of the egg roll wet when rolling so that it sticks together easily. This will keep the dough from unfolding.
Air Fryer Method
For quick and crispy results try using an air fryer. Follow the steps as usual but instead of cooking in the oven, brush with oil and place in a preheated air fryer. This is my preferred method! It cooks them so much quicker and they get nice and crispy!
Air fry at 375 degree Fahrenheit for 6-7 minutes. Be sure to watch until crispy and golden brown.
Note that not all air fryers are created equal. You may have to adjust your cook time and your temperature based on the type of air fryer you have. For more air fryer recipes and tips be sure to check out our How To Use an Air Fryer guide.
Substitutions
Use this list of substitutions in order to make this recipe fit any dietary needs, food preferences or allergies.
- Mozzarella Cheese -instead of cheddar cheese you can use the more mild cheese, mozzarella. This will still give you a delicious cheesy center but less of a sharp flavor.
- Reduced Fat Cream Cheese- we used regular cream cheese but if you are looking for less fat content, you can use reduced fat cream cheese.
- Gluten Free - egg roll wrappers are typically not gluten free. But you can use gluten free wrappers to make this a gluten free meal.
How To Serve Egg Rolls
Mix dinner up by making this tasty recipe and then pair it with our air fryer smashed potatoes, and a vegetable. Make a fun weekend dinner the whole family will love.
Pair the egg rolls with either ranch dressing or blue cheese dressing. You can serve it on the side or we found it really added to the recipe when we added 1 tablespoon of either dressing into the chicken mixture.
Storage
Store cooked Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls in an air tight container for 3-4 days in the refrigerator. When ready to eat, reheat in the microwave, oven, or air fryer. The Air fryer and oven will give you that crisp texture you had the first time cooking.
These can be stored in the freezer for 1-2 months. You will want to store cooked egg rolls in an air tight container or freezer friendly plastic bag. When ready to eat, either thaw the night before in the refrigerator, or cook from frozen (this will take longer, but effective).
Top tips
Remember don't over-stuff the egg roll wrapper with the chicken filling or it will burst while folding or when it is cooking. I did this the first time I made them and all of the egg roll wrappers split open while folding.
If your cream cheese isn't soft enough, it will be difficult to work into the mixture.
